How Did This Happen? Who or What Caused it?

The chemical spill that happened in 30th of January, 2000 which killed nearly all the population of the fish in the Tisza River. This was located in Northern Romania, the company responsible was AURUL. This left the residents of Hungary were in a chemical place, where the chemicals were in the air.
One the 30th of January 2000, the city of Baia Mare in Northern Romania had a chemical disaster happen. This all happened when the city of Baia Mare had very heavy rainfall and snow. This caused a nearby gold mine, banks to collapse and release deadly chemical such as cyanide and heavy metals. If the banks didn’t have so many chemicals it might of have held. The chemicals leaked to the Szamos River first then to, it then led its way to the Tisza River on the 4th of February. Some people blame the company AURUL for the chemical disaster because they had more than 50- 100 tonnes of chemical waste and they didn’t dispose of their chemicals when there was way too much in their banks, which wiped out the population of fish and plant life in the Tisza River which . It only took 5 days later to reach the Tisza River. Locals said they saw dead fish, with lumpy eyes with a very thin layer of gold.
The company AURUL had put cyanide (a very poisonous chemical and very highly concentrated) in its banks. They used it because cyanide extracts and cleans the gold. The cyanide was then released when the banks burst, which made the chemical spill worse. It was measured after that the concentration was 100 times the acceptable drinking level because of the cyanide. With the 3 countries involved Hungary decided to sue the AURUL Company which Australia and Romania owned.
